With talk of scareware and increased internet security breaches your company should be doing all it can to protect its systems and workstations, but there are things you can do to help. Simple things that maybe you are already doing or things you haven’t thought of before.
Making sure your PC has up to date anti-virus and spam filtering can help to keep your e-mails safe. You should check your Windows updates are done regularly you can do this by clicking
here. Microsoft will automatically indentify which updates you need and one quick click and they are done. Before you install or update any programmes or software you should check with your manager or IT provider.
You can also be aware of your hard drive, try and keep it free of unnecessary files, such as temporary internet files, personal files and try to avoid duplicating files. You can defrag your hard drive regularly we would suggest once a quarter and rebooting your machine at least once a week will also help to keep your PC healthy.
To control all of these things you need to make sure that you are the only person with access to your PC, or if multiple people use your machine they each and every person has their own unique passwords which are not shared. You should change your password regularly to avoid someone gaining access to your PC and causing damage whether it is intentional or not.
CCS can help to supply, perform and monitor all of the suggestions made above. Our contract clients already receive these services included in their monthly packages. They already benefit and have complete peace of mind that their systems are taken care of. Of course you can do these things yourself and you can apply most if not all of these points to your home PC’s and laptops to keep them healthy.
